“There’s that word again. “Heavy.” Why are things so heavy in the future? Is there a problem with the Earth’s gravitational pull?” – Dr. Emmett Brown
Number of Times Seen – Too many to count (Theater, DVD, 7 May 2013)
Brief Synopsis – A teenager is inadvertently sent back in time 30 years and meets his parents as teenagers and must find his way back home.
My Take on it – I recall the hype when this movie came out and remember the thrill when I finally went to the movie theater to see it in the summer of 1985. As a kid, my friends and I were fascinated by this movie and the concept of a Time-traveling Delorean. We would always discuss this movie and I even had a friend who had seen it so many times, he knew the entire dialogue word for word by heart.
I still enjoy this fantasy flick every time I see it and just LOVE the over-the-top performance by Christopher Lloyd as Doc Brown. Michael J. Fox was excellently cast (after they filmed 6 weeks with Eric Stoltz where they had to discard all that footage) as Marty McFly and even as a twenty something he expertly gave the impression that he was still 17.
Definitely the most serious of the BTTF trilogy and the best, but it was a pleasure to reacquaint myself with the characters for Parts II and III.
Great cameos by Huey Lewis (who is the singer of the movie’s main theme – Power of Love) during the first 10 minutes of the movie.
Bottom Line – Very fun movie, better than the sequels (as usually happens), great storyline, great acting and worth seeing. Highly recommended!!
Rating – Oscar Worthy
Man oh man I love this movie, it’s so hard to change the channel if you happen to see it on, and just about every scene is CLASSIC. I loved the sequel too, third one was fun but it’s the second one that rocked, I can still remember my excitement leading up to its release!

Yep. Really great iconic 80’s movie. It really is one of my favorites. I also liked the sequels, but they still weren’t as good as the original. What I loved about the sequel was the way they integrated new Marty into the old scenes without changing the original 🙂

That was one of many awesome things about Part II, absolutely. Can’t tell you how many times I fantasized about hoverboards and many other awesome inventions. Loved it, still do.

Yes. The future part was amazing. Its scary that in a mere two years, we’ll be there and most of what Zemeckis and Spielberg dreamed of didn’t make it to 2015. One of the things that I always liked about Part 2 was that it was (at the time) The only optimistic view of the future. All other movies showed a grim future with lots of war and destruction. Can’t right now think of any other movies with a positive viewpoint on the future but I’m sure there have been some others.
I actually believed reports at the time that there really were hoverboards 🙂

That’s right, people started to believe it. I also wanted shoelaces that tied themselves and pizza that came out delicious after going in tiny and dehydrated. lol
Demolition Man is a cool future too, though it makes you pay for cursing which was one of its funnier moment in an otherwise bad movie.
Okay, off to sleep for me!

I did remember Demolition Man (1997), but a utopian world like that isn’t optimistic. 🙂

No, not optimistic, but full of awesome stuff that I hope gets built one day, but not the same thing I know. 🙂

True. But it would drive me nuts if music was just commercial jingles.

This was my favorite movie of all time when I was a little kid. It continues to be one of my favorites. I like your review. Quick and to the point. Some people have a tendency to go on and on. I find it hard to read a review that is a few pages long.

That exactly why I chose to write short reviews. Long reviews give away too much. I write the kind of reviews that I would want to read. Get a brief synopsis of a movie and based on that I can decide whether to watch it or not.
