“The secret impresses no one. The trick you use it for is everything.” Alfred Borden
Number of Times Seen – 2 (28 Jan 2007 and 4 Jun 2013)
Brief Synopsis – Two competing magician in England in the late 19th Century try to outdo one another
My Take on it – I have only seen this movie twice and actually didn’t enjoy it so much the first time. This time I paid more attention and was definitely rewarded for doing so.
Christopher Nolan has always been a favorite director of mine ever since I saw Memento in the theater (Twice within days of each other. Just to try and figure it all out).
In all of his movie he keeps us guessing until the end. There are so many twists and turns that if you turn your attention elsewhere for just a few seconds, you can get lost. This applies to this movie, The Batman trilogy {Batman Begins (2005), The Dark Knight (2008) and Dark Knight Rises (2012)}, Memento (2000) and of course Inception (2010). Insomnia (2002) is his only movie that I didn’t enjoy and I think that now means that I should re-watch it 🙂 Following was interesting, but was weaker than his other movies.
I’m very much anticipating his next movie InterStellar (2014).
Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman are great as his “dueling” protagonists. The only think that bothered me was how similar they looked and that sometimes led to me mixing them up (maybe that’s intentional).
Kept me entertained all the up to and including the final scene
Bottom Line – Great performances by Bale and Jackman. Nolan knows how to make a captivating movie. Highly recommended
Rating – Oscar Worthy

I love this film! I was so amazed by it. I don’t really like Nolan’s films, other than The Dark Knight. But The Prestige is outstanding.

I thought Inception was good, but very overrated. I’ve only seen it once though, I keep meaning to give it a second viewing. I’ll probably be seeing Interstellar this weekend since it has me intrigued. Not sure if I’ll like it, bit I’ll give it a chance.
