“Now you got three choices: you can either go to the morgue, the hospital, or you can get in that car. The decision is yours.” – Insp. James Larrimore, SFPD
Number of Times Seen – 1 (14 Jul 2013)
Brief Synopsis – An SFPD detective squad try to track down a gunman who killed 8 people including one of their own in a shooting on a bus.
My Take on it – Walter Matthau leads this cats as the lead detective trying to solve the murder on the bus while fighting his own demons. His partners on this case is Bruce Dern and Louis Gosset Jr. and they all track down many leads trying to uncover the reasoning and purpose for the massacre.
Many aspects of the movie reminded me of The French Connection (1971), but with San Francisco as the city instead of NYC.
What I enjoyed the most about the movie was that it was a typical procedural but because it was 42 min (like most TV show procedural’s), the characters had time to explore many different leads that sometimes were helpful and other times not.
I cant really say why the movie is called The Laughing Policeman since it is a very edge-of-your-seat kind of thriller and in no way is it comedic.
Bottom Line – Movie done very well. Great cast and great storyline. Recommended
Rating – Globe Worthy
