Number of Times Seen – 1 (18 Jul 2013)
Brief Synopsis – 3 cowboys running from the law unwillingly become caretakers of a newborn infant which changes their lives.
My Take on it – John Wayne plays a bank robbing cowboy in this movie and along with his two partners (Harry Carey Jr. and Pedro Armendarez) must make there way across the Arizona desert in order to get safely away from the local marshal (Ward Bond) who is chasing them.
Clever plot, but there are too many veiled references to baby Jesus and the story of Christmas, which seem somewhat out of place in this place and setting.
This movie has numerous comical points when the 3 cowboys try to deal with a woman giving birth and with having to learn about how to care for a newborn baby.
Bottom Line – Pretty good movie. A little too preachy, but ultimately it gets it’s point across how one can always redeem himself. Recommended.
