“President Roosevelt said “We have nothing to fear, but fear itself.” By god it’s true.” President Walther Emerson
Number of Times Seen – at least 5 (DVD, 29 Jul 2013)
Brief Synopsis – The President is trapped in a diner during a blizzard as WWIII breaks out around him.
My Take on it – Wow! To make a movie like this where everything happens in one room is an amazing feat, especially since it’s keeps the viewer interested throughout.
Rod Lurie chose this as his debut and he made a great choice. I have always enjoyed his movies. My favorite is The Contender (2000) and The Last Castle (2001) runs a close second.
He really knows how to write a great political story. Kevin Pollack is cast against type as the President and he does a great job of appearing presidential.
Timothy Hutton and Sheryl Lee Ralph play his two warring advisers who constantly give him conflicting advice.
For a movie where everything takes place in one room, they really make the experience literally global and it doesn’t feel cramped at all.
The plot is suspenseful and keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout.
Bottom Line – Expertly done by Rod Lurie. Recommended!
Rating – Globe Worthy
