Number of Times Seen – 2 (26 Oct 2002, 6 Aug 2013)
Brief Synopsis – Two LAPD detectives travel to Alaska to assist in a homicide of a teenage girl.
My Take on it – I have enjoyed all of Christopher Nolan’s movies except this one. It was by far the weakest of all of his movies and after having thoroughly enjoyed 6 of his 7 other movies (The Following (1998) was somewhat weak, but not as weak as this one).
I guess that it can be said that Nolan was going through growing pains, except for the fact that before this came out, he directed Memento (2000) which was definitely a masterpiece. In all the years of cinema, I don’t recall there ever being another movie done backwards the way that that was done.
Once Batman Begins (2005) came out, he was on his way up. I am highly anticipating his Interstellar (2014) which should come out next year.
This movie has 3 Oscar winners in it; Al Pacino, Robin Williams and Hillary Swank who all are solid in this movie, if only the story and script would have been better.
This movie deals more with ethics and how crimes effect a person instead of the criminal acts themselves and it’s unfortunately less interesting because of the way it is presented.
Bottom Line – Weakest of Nolan’s movies. Was very disappointed.
Rating – BAFTA Worthy
