In Harm’s Way (1965)

in harms way“Well, we all know the Navy’s never wrong. But in this case, it was a little weak on bein’ right.” – Adm. Nimitz

Number of Times Seen – 1 (11 Aug 2013)

Brief Synopsis – A Naval captain in reprimanded after the attack on Pearl Harbor and is then given a second chance a few months later to show his command abilities.

My Take on it – I had never heard of this movie before and was pleasantly surprised that it was so good and had such a long list of great actors in it.

John Wayne and Kirk Douglas lead the way as the ship’s captain and his XO.

This is a true WWII epic movie. It takes us from the day before the attack on Pear Harbor to well into the fight in the Pacific against the Japanese.

Great cast besides Wayne and Douglas; Patricia Neal, Tom Tryon, Brandon De Wilde,  Dana Andrews, Stanley Holloway, Burgess Meredith, Carroll O’Connor, Slim Pickens, George Kennedy and Henry Fonda.

Bottom Line – Great epic WWII movie. Done in the right way. Recommended!

Rating – Globe Worthy
