“I learned to cuss before I could walk.” Clay Spencer
Number of Times Seen – 1 (12 Aug 2013)
Brief Synopsis – The story of a family living in the wilderness in Wyoming in the 1950’s and how they try to cope with the progressiveness of society.
My Take on it – Henry Fonda is great as the father of 9 children who has always tried to do the best for his family. When his son Clay Jr. is about to graduate high school. The first of the family to ever get that far in school), he must try to decide how to cope with the changes in how society sees education and priorities in life.
This movie isn’t great, but it is told in a nice and pleasant way in order to show us how poor people in rural communities got thru life generation after generation until one day they realized that the way of life had changed dramatically.
Look for the voice of Underdog, Wally Cox as the minister of their small community.
Bottom Line – Basis of the TV show The Waltons. Mediocre movie that drags a bit. Henry Fonda is great as always
Rating – BAFTA Worthy
