Number of Times Seen – Numerous (Theater, DVD, 15 Aug 2013)
Brief Synopsis – A defense attorney and one of the juror work illegally together to try to find the truth and help free a possibly innocent defendant from a murder conviction.
My Take on it – I remember seeing this in the theater when it came out in 1987 and recall even now enjoying it thoroughly back then.
I’ve never been a fan of Cher (not as a singer or as an actress), so I was skeptical as to whether she would be any good in this movie. I actually hated her in Moonstruck (1987) for which she won a Best Actress Oscar. This seems to be the exception for her (IMHO) where she actually showed she can act.
Dennis Quaid has always been a favorite actor of mine and in the 80’s he was in numerous movies besides this one that I enjoyed very much; Innerspace (1987), DOA (1988), Jaws 3-D (1983), The Big Easy (1986) and Everybody’s All American (1988).
The two have great chemistry here and the pacing of the movie is perfect, The plot is planned out well, keeping you guessing throughout.
Great supporting performances by John Mahoney and Liam Neeson
Bottom Line – Quaid and Cher are both great. Tense thriller that keeps you guessing until the very end. Recommended
Rating – Globe Worthy
