“Look at the bright side. He has more room in his jockey shorts.” – Elsie
Number of Times Seen – Between 5-10 times (Theater, DVD, 20 Aug 2013)
Brief Synopsis – A train toll collector accidentally pretends to be engaged to the man of her dreams after he is mugged and left in a coma.
My Take on it – This is a fun rom-com.
It came out at during the decade or so of the golden age of rom-coms that people will remember and enjoy for years to come. Sleepless in Seattle (1993), When Harry met Sally (1989), You’ve Got Mail (1999), Roxanne (1987), Notting Hill (1999), Say Anything (1989), The Princess Bride (1987), As Good as it Gets (1997), Groundhog Day (1993), Pretty Woman (1990) and Four Weddings and a Funeral (1994) are all part of that specific genre.
The two leads (Sandra Bullock and Bill Pullman) fit the profile of the perfect couple who need to realize over the course of 2 hours (or so) that they are meant to be together.
This movie has a great (and funny) supporting cast; Peter Boyle, Jack Warden, Peter Gallagher, Michael Rispoli and Glynis Johns are all hilarious here.
Bottom Line – Great romantic comedy. Fits the winning formula perfectly. Recommended!
Rating – Globe Worthy
