Stoker (2013)

Stoker-2013“He used to say, sometimes you need to do something bad to stop you from doing something worse.” – India Stoker

Number of Times Seen –  1 (1 Sep 2013)

Brief Synopsis – A young girl and her mother are visited by an estranged relative after her father mysteriously dies

My Take on it – I watched this movie based on the recommendation of Cinema Parrot Disco not really knowing what I was getting myself into since I didn’t read her review prior to my own viewing.

This movie straddles the line between horror and thriller and I must say it just wasn’t to my liking.  It was too macabre for my taste and I found myself quite often asking myself “Why are you still watching this? Just turn it off”.  But alas, I could not do so since I try to finish every movie I start in order to hopefully find redeeming characteristics in bad movie and to also see if good movie drop their goodness later on.

Perhaps part of the problem is that I just didn’t understand what was really going on, but I find myself not really even caring about that.

I just think I wasted 98 minutes of my time watching this.

That being said, I’m not upset that I saw it, because now I know first hand what I think of this movie (which is the best way to form an opinion on a movie).

I say skip it unless you like macabre tales of strangeness.

Bottom Line – Too macabre for my taste. Was quite bored and confused throughout.

Rating – Razzie Worthy
