“Hey, this is a real nice hobby room. All you need now is a hobby!” – Martin Riggs
Number of Times Seen – Too many to count (Theater in 1989, video, DVD and 28 Oct 2013)
Brief Synopsis – Riggs and Murtaugh are back, this time they have to deal with corrupt South African diplomats.
My Take on it – This movie delivers exactly what we would expect from a buddy-buddy cop movie.
Lots of action, laughs and a great story.
It’s actually interesting watching this movie after having seen it’s subsequent sequels because the characters have all become much more endearing to me over the years.
One of the best ideas was to cats Joe Pesci here as Leo Getz. his character is funny and annoying at the same time and he is a great sidekick who is able to help the movie along and also be the butt of jokes.
His character was received so well that he became an important staple of the quadrilogy.
The tone of the movie is much lighter than the original Lethal Weapon (1987) and that’s one of the things that really makes this movie work and obviously led to two other sequels.
Bottom Line – Fun sequel. Lighter atmosphere than the first one, but just as good. Recommended
Rating – Globe Worthy
