“You have the right to remain unconscious. Anything you say ain’t gonna be much.” – Martin Riggs
Number of Times Seen – Too many to count (In Theater in 1992, video, DVD, 18 Feb 2001 and 29 Oct 2013)
Brief Synopsis – LAPD cops Riggs and Murtaugh are back. This time dealing with bad guys who are distributing armor-piercing bullets (and killing cops)
My Take on it – Of the four Lethal Weapon movie, this is definitely the weakest. The story is the least interesting and even the character of Leo (played by Joe Pesci) seems out of place here. The villain is mediocre to say the least and the final shootout is also pretty mediocre.
The new casting addition here is Rene Russo as an Internal Affairs cop trying to catch the cop killers who ends up enlisting the help of the duo.
Even though the story is weak, we still can enjoy once again meeting the characters and seeing what has happened in their lives in the 3 years since we left them.
Still fun to watch, but mostly just a “bridge movie” that connects Lethal Weapon 2 (1989) with the final chapter Lethal Weapon 4 (1998)
Bottom Line – Weakest of the Lethal Weapon Quadrilogy, but still entertaining and fun to watch. Recommended.
Rating – Globe Worthy
