“[“Sweet Home Alabama” plays in background] Define irony. Bunch of idiots dancing on a plane to a song made famous by a band that died in a plane crash. – Garland Greene
Number of Times Seen – 2 (in Theater in 1997 and 6 Nov 2013)
Brief Synopsis – A convict about to be paroled is transported on an airplane with some of the most vicious criminals around who have plans to hijack the plane and fly to freedom.
My Take on it – I don’t recall why I hated this movie so much the first time I saw this and it has taken me 16 years to re-watch it to finally appreciate it.
The plot, although probably completely implausible, is an interesting idea and it makes for an enjoyable and fun action movie.
The main problem I have with this movie is the casting of Nicolas Cage as the main hero, since he has never really been considered in my book to be a leading man action hero. He probably would have been better cast as the character that John Cusack plays instead.
Great additional acting by Ving Rhames, John Malkovich, Steve Buscemi and Mykelti Williams {Bubba from Forrest Gump (1994)}.
If you’re in the mood for a fun action, popcorn movie, enjoy this one!
Bottom Line – Very fun and entertaining action movie. Recommended
Rating – Globe Worthy
Fun movie. 🙂 Not Oscar worthy but enjoyable enough!
