Number of Times Seen – 2 (3 May 2003 in the theater and 7 Dec 2013)
Brief Synopsis – An advertizing exec makes a bet that he can get a woman to fall in love with him within 10 days and at the same time, a women’s magazine columnist starts a story about how to make a guy run away within 10 days. The pair meet and each try to accomplish their opposing goals within the same 10 day period.
My Take on it – This is a very clever concept for a rom-com movie.
Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey are both so perfect in this movie that you don’t know who to root for in this fun battle of wits between the two.
The movie generally follows the typical rom-com formula, but is still thoroughly entertaining throughout.
My wife hadn’t seen this movie before and she was so happy that I chose it. We both laughed out loud many times during the viewing.
What makes this movie different from a typical rom-com is the idea that here you have to root for one or the other to “win” because if they end up together one of them will lose out since their goals are conflicting.
This is the type of movie to watch when you just want to enjoy yourself for two fun filled hours.
Bottom Line – Fun rom-com that has a great concept. Hudson and McConaughey are both great in their respective roles. Recommended
Rating – Globe Worthy
