“Why not me? Why not? A guy can get anything he wants as long as he pays the price. What’s wrong with that? Stranger things have happened.” -Rupert Pupkin
Number of Times Seen – 1 (17 Dec 2013)
Brief Synopsis – An unsuccessful comedian kidnaps the late night talk show host in order to get on his show and become famous.
My Take on it – I am not the biggest fan of Martin Scorsese and I can only think of 3 of his movies that I thoroughly enjoyed; Goodfellas (1990), The Departed (2006) and Hugo (2011). The rest has all been OK or pretty good movies, but this one IMHO was just terrible.
As much as I like and respect Robert DeNiro and Jerry Lewis, they both do no justice to their names with this movie.
The plot just isn’t good or even interesting and I didn’t care what would happen to any of the characters or want to continue watching any of them.
I read that the making of this movie was very strenuous on DeNiro, Lewis and Scorsese. I can empathize with that since, for me, just sitting through close to two hours of this was pretty strenuous also.
Bottom Line – One of the worst Scorsese movies I’ve ever seen. was completely bored throughout. Stay away!
Rating – Razzie Worthy
