The East (2013)

The-East-UK-Poster-585x438“Since when do we turn away outlaws?” – Luca

Number of Times Seen – 1  (18 Dec 2013)

Brief Synopsis – An investigator goes undercover in an anarchist group to find out who are their next targets.

My Take on it –  I took a chance watching this movie and didn’t know what to expect.

I actually enjoyed it very much especially the fact that as the movie moves along, we realize how it’s possible to start to like the people you are investigating when you spend a lot of time undercover.

What’s interesting is the fact that the movie grew on me in the same way.  At the beginning, I partially regretted watching it because I felt that the storyline was very distant to me, but as it moved along, I started to like the characters more and by the end could understand what they were trying to do and why.

Another aspect that I liked was how we don’t know very much about the main character Sarah and only see her based on the persona she has taken on as an undercover agent.  Even in the scenes with her boyfriend, the viewer gets the feeling that she is out of place there and that she herself feels more comfortable in her persona than in her real life.

Bottom Line – Enjoyable movie. Shows what can happen when you become part of a group and begin to get to know it’s members. Recommended!

Rating – Globe Worthy
