“Do I look like I’m negotiating?” – Michael Clayton
Number of Times Seen – 2 (10 Feb 2008 and 23 Dec 2013)
Brief Synopsis – A “fixer” for a law firm faces a moral dilemma when his mentor has a mental breakdown.
My Take on it – I have always been a fan of George Clooney ever since he played Ace on the TV show E/R (no, NOT the ER that we all know from MUST SEE NBC Thursday nights that ran from 1994 until 2009). This was a half hour comedy with Elliott Gould, Mary McDonnell and George Clooney that only lasted one season but I recall was very funny.
This movie is one that is very interesting to watch because of the plot, dialogue and acting, but its plot is complicated and if you don’t pay close attention, you can easily get lost.
IMHO, that is this film’s major flaw; it’s “heavy” plot isn’t for everyone.
The acting here is superb. Besides Clooney, Tom Wilkenson and Tilda Swinton are both excellent here.
AS good as this movie is, I’m not completely sure that it was worthy of a Best Picture Nomination.
Bottom Line – Great acting by Clooney, Wilkinson and Swinton which carries this thriller. Not sure if it really should have been nominated for Best Picture tho. Recommended!
Rating – Globe Worthy

Was a very weak Best Picture year, that. But this is certainly a good film all the same.
Plot probably is a bit over complicated.

Good review Rob. The whole cast is great, but it’s Wilkinson who really comes out on top, feeling like the type of character we can’t help but freaked-out by and not believe, yet, still feel a whole slew of sympathy for once everything all comes crashing down.

100% correct. His character is definitely the bets one to watch and the one we do feel the most sympathy for.
