“[getting out of his ruined car] That’s not what I had in mind.” – Dom
Number of Times Seen – 1 (25 Dec 2013)
Brief Synopsis – An undercover cop must decide where his loyalties lie when he gets too close to his assignment – LA street racers.
My Take on it – I’m actually somewhat shocked that I was able to stay away from this movie for so long.
It never really appealed to me even though I expected it to be an intense action thriller similar to Point Break (1991), Speed (1994) or Cliffhanger (1993).
The truth is that the first hour plus was quite tame and I didn’t feel any adrenaline pumping, but rather just felt somewhat bored. At about the 80 minute mark things changed and I jumped up and was glue to the screen for the remainder of the movie that moved so fast (and furious) 🙂 that I was finally seeing the type of movie I had expected.
Unfortunately, that part only lasted for 25 minutes. If I just had to rate those 25 minutes, it would get a top rating, but since the 80 minutes at the beginning were so dull, it is dropped down a few notches.
There are 6!!! sequels to this movies, so maybe one day I’ll watch them also and see if they were able to keep the adrenaline pumping for longer than 25 minutes.
My 15 year old nephew loves these movies and he can’t understand why I haven’t seen them.
Bottom Line – Expected a more intense action movie and was somewhat disappointed. Last 25 minutes are really good so it was worth waiting for it. Too bad the action doesn’t last longer.
Rating – BAFTA Worthy

I have heard such mixed things about these movies that I’ve never seen them. Some people love them; others hate them. A few are more or less in the middle, like you.
Your review doesn’t inspire me to change that, though.

Meh. They should have stopped at one. 🙂 I THINK I watched the second as well. That was more than enough for me. But Paul Walker was lovely.

Yeah, I’m not really eager to see any more of them for the time being
