Moon (2009)

jobtitle_1Sht_JOBNO“Sam, I can only account for what occurs on this base.” – GERTY

Number of Times Seen – 2  (2 Nov 2009 and 29 Dec 2013)

Brief Synopsis – An astronaut tasked with manning a station on the moon for 3 years discovers something astounding 2 weeks before he finishes his service.

My Take on it – This is a very difficult movie to review since so much of it’s plot hinges on spoilers, so unfortunately I cant talk too much about the plot without ruining it.

This movie is proof that a small independent film can bring new ideas into the science fiction genre and succeed.

The special effects here are done so seamlessly that if you didn’t know it, you wouldn’t think nay effects were being used at all.

The driving force of this movie is of course it’s lead actor Sam Rockwell (who is the only character with substantial screen time).  Rockwell proves here how great an actor he is and this movie is proof that he has a bright future ahead.

Kevin Spacey provides the voice of a robot with whom Rockwell has most of his conversations.

This was one of the best movies of 2009 and unfortunately many people have never had a chance to see it, or even heard of it.

Go see it!!!

Bottom Line – Great premise, amazing effects. Sam Rockwell rocks!!! Highly recommended!

Rating – Oscar Worthy
