Last Vegas (2013)

lv“Boy these vodka Red Bulls are strange. I feel like I’m getting drunk and electrocuted at the same time! The music, it’s loud! It’s like everything sounds alike, like they’re playing the same song over and over and over again. I probably should get up and dance but I’m used to having a partner. It doesn’t seem to matter to that fella. Maybe I’ll give it a shot. Maybe not. I hope they play something different. Maybe now.” – Archie

Number of Times Seen – 1 (21 Jan 2014)

Brief Synopsis – Four retired friends get together for an unforgettable weekend in Vegas before one of them gets married.

My Take on it – I didn’t really know what to make of this movie before I saw it, but knew that most of the funny lines were probably already featured in the trailer.

This movie has Michael Douglas, Kevin Kline, Robert De Niro and Morgan Freeman are 4 retired friends who go to Vegas for Douglas’ bachelor party.

The plot isn’t great and the only entertaining factor are the few jokes that work and the fact that we get to see these 4 Oscar winners finally work together.

This movie won’t get any of them another Oscar because all it does is highlight the fact that they are all getting pretty old.

Jack Nicholson was suppose to star here and pulled out for some reason (maybe because he read the script) 🙂

Bottom Line – Geriatric Hangover.  This movie is slightly above average only because it features 4 amazing actors in somewhat funny roles.

Rating – BAFTA Worthy

  1. Good review Rob. The movie wasn’t anything special, but given the talent involved with it, it was slightly better than expected. Especially whenever Kline and Freeman were on screen, absolutely having the time of their lives.

  2. Kline and Freeman are always great in everything they do.

I didn’t realize that Kline was so old, because he usually doesn’t act his age (like the others have been doing recently).
