Mrs. Doubtfire (1993)

mrs doubtfire“Did you ever wish you could sometimes freeze frame a moment in your day, look at it and say “this is not my life”?” – Daniel

Number of Times Seen – at least 5 times  (Theater in 1993, video, DVD, 6 Jul 2006 and 29 Jan 2014)

Brief Synopsis – A father following a divorce dresses up as a nanny in order to be closer to his kids.

My Take on it – This is a very fun movie.  Anyone who has seen Robin Williams do an interview, knows how crazy he can be when he is given full reign over whatever he does.

In this movie, he was allowed to do as much improv as he wanted and director Chris Columbus used multiple cameras in every shot in order to capture all of his improvisations throughout.

This movie is not your typical comedy because it has a very strong emotional and caring message about divorce and parenting.

Being a parent who has dealt with divorce and courts and custody issues and humiliation by the authorities, I could really relate to many of the emotions that Williams character has to deal with in this movie.

Williams truly carries this whole movie himself, but it was nice to see both Sally Fields and Pierce Brosnan acting along side him.

Bottom Line – Williams is hilarious here. Not a true comedy because of its message of love and divorce. Recommended!

Rating – Globe Worthy
