“What is this? A homicide, or a bad B-movie?” – Detective Cameron
Number of Times Seen – Numerous times (at least 5 times on cable in teh ’80’s and 11 Feb 2014)
Brief Synopsis – A college campus is infested with alien slugs that turn people into Zombies. Three kids and a burnt out cop need to try and find a way to stop them.
My Take on it – This was a movie that I totally had forgotten about until I saw a conversation between Table9Mutant and Eric of the IPC that mentions it. (Thanks guys for allowing that eavesdrop).
I was flooded with memories of slugs and college kids, so I decided to re-watch it.
As many of you know, I am NOT a fan of horror movies, but this one is so campy, I have a hard time classifying it as one.
I admit, the plot here is quite simple and (thankfully) not scary at all.
But it was fun as hell re-watching it. Throughout my viewing I kept getting flashes of memories reminding me what was going to happen, but that didn’t matter to me at all since I was enjoying it so much.
The only actor who really has a career after this movie was David Paymer (who, ironically, has a really small part as a scientist), so don’t watch this to see young actors who went on to make it big afterwards, because that doesn’t happen here.
The one thing I loved about my previous viewings was the final scene and was slightly disappointed that since I watched the Directors Cut he changed it. I’m not sure if I agree with that change even though I understand why he did it, but at least I was able to find the final scene from the original cut online.
Bottom Line – Great cult movie. A favorite of mine from the 80’s. Simple plot, but effective. Recommended!
Rating – Globe Worthy

Love this movie, and Jason Lively’s delivery of, “Get out of the house… get out of the house… get out of the house, NOWWWWW!!” cracks me up endlessly.

So…. I guess I have to watch this thing someday, huh? ; )
I’ll admit – I think Eric watches some dodgy stuff I know I’d hate but THIS does seem like my kind of thing. Well, he was right about The Warriors… ; ) Oh, and Grabbers!
