The Nines (2007)

Number of Times Seen – 1 (17 Feb 2014)

Brief Synopsis – A troubled actor, a TV show creator and a Computer game creator all find themselves in worlds that don’t seem to be the way they should be.

My Take on it – This is another movie that I knew completely nothing about before seeing it and it’s a very deep and philosophical one done pretty well.

Ryan Reynolds, Hope Davis and Melissa McCarthy each play different characters in 3 different stories that make the viewer question what is reality and what is fantasy.

Each segment works in it’s own way and the added “kick” that weaves them all together also fits within the “reality” of the story.

I can’t necessarily say that this is a movie I will seek out again in the near future, but the fact that it has been more than 30 hours since viewing it and I am still thinking about its philosophical questions, makes me realize how good this movie really is.

Bottom Line – Strange movie with an interesting concept.  Reynolds, Davis and McCarthy are convincing in all 3 “stories”.  Kind of movie that makes you thing about it for days afterwards.  Recommended!

Rating – Globe Worthy
