My Oscar Picks 2014

oscar 3Hey Guys!

Below are my Oscar picks for tonight.  Most of them are based on my having seen most of the nominees, but there are a few categories which I haven’t seen all or in some cases any of the nominees, in those cases, I chose based on a bit of research.

Hope you all enjoy the show as much as I hope to.

I pray my alarm clock wakes me up in time for the opening at 330am my time.

Good luck to all us prognosticators!

  1. Great predictions. I continue being surprised how many people people are picking Nyong’o. I think all signs point to Lawrence as the obvious front runner.

Otherwise we agree on all of the major categories. I will be a bit surprised if 20 Feet takes documentary. That seems a race between The Act of Killing and The Square. Though 20 Feet is a dark horse candidate.

    • If I went with my heart Gravity would win Best pic, but I’m a realist 🙂 Just glad that it probably wont be American Hustle taking home the big prize. That would be a big disappointment for me

  2. Nice predictions. 12 Years would be a bold decision for the Academy. I wonder whether AMERICAN HUSTLE will benefit from a split vote.

I wonder if the recent publicity around Woody will harm Blanchett’s chances?

    We’ll soon know I guess ; )

    • Thanks for stopping by and commenting Dirk.

As I’m sure you saw, the night went like everyone thought it would with no big surprises except American Hustle getting shut out

  3. I can see Gravity taking home the best visual effects award but I’m also thinking Smaug is a strong possibility. Before Midnight is really good, it’s worth checking out although 12 Years is well deserving of the best adapted screenplay. Good picks!

  4. Nice choices! We’re pretty much in the same mindset. Only major differences are Foreign Language Film (I picked The Hunt) and Documentary (I picked The Act of Killing). Of course I haven’t seen most of the nominees, so I’m basically most of my predictions are basically copying off of other people…hahaha.
