Jaws 3-D (1983)

jaws III“White sharks are dangerous. I know ’em. My father, my brother, myself. They’re murders.” – Mike Brody

Number of Times Seen – at least 5 times (cable in the 80’s and 19 Mar 2014)

Brief Synopsis – Another shark finds members of the Brody family, this time while working at a SeaWorld type park in Florida

My Take on it – I recall seeing this on cable numerous times as a kid and enjoyed it.

Having re-watched it close to 30 years later, I see how terrible this movie really is.

The characters are ALL just one dimensional and we don’t care or know much about any of them.

The story is very uneven and lots of things happen without much of an explanation as to why or even how.

This movie came out as a 3-D movie and it’s quite humorous to see the scenes that appear as 3D in 2D because things come at the screen. 🙂

The thing that completely disappointed me here was the fact that the cast was excellent, but with such a horrendous script there was nothing that could be done.  It was fun to watch Dennis Quaid, Bess Armstrong, Louis Gosset Jr. and Lea Thompson in her movie debut try to overcome the script to no avail.

Quaid is known to even act surprised when asked if he acted in a Jaws movie 🙂

This movie wasn’t at all scary or suspenseful.  I still believe that they should have stopped after the first one.

Bottom Line – Fun to see some of the actors in this, but overall a utter and terribly disappointing movie.  Stay away.

Rating – Razzie Worthy
