Number of Times Seen – Too many to count (Theater, cable, video, DVD and 19 Mar 2014)
Brief Synopsis – The continuing adventures of the crew of the Enterprise after they successfully rescue Spock and must return to Earth which is being threatened by an unknown menace.
My Take on it – This is the “funnest” of all of the movie in the entire Star Trek franchise and it’s easy to tell by the script and the acting that the actors themselves also enjoyed making it.
Leonard Nimoy directed this one and it is quite clear that it was made with love because of the focus of the characters in a laid back situation instead of in the midst of a space battle against an unknown enemy.
I’m a big fan of time travel sci-fi so I enjoyed this one more than most people because it was great seeing the crew of the Enterprise dealing with stuff from the 1980’s (exact change, computers, medicine, etc).
This movie was acted in such a way that it is clear that the cast had a great time making this movie.
The subtle (or actually not so subtle) save the whales theme was also done well and wasn’t as preachy like movies like Free Willy (1993) are.
This movie also follows the theme that the even number Star Trek movies are good and the odd ones are crap because this one is very enjoyable to watch.
Bottom Line – The most fun of all of the Star Trek movies. You can also tell that the cast had a blast with this one too. Has humor and elements of time travel done well, so it can’t really go wrong. Recommended!
Rating – Globe Worthy
