“Long ago, the Duke of Milan commissioned a little known artist to erect a Mammoth statue of a horse. The time was 1481… The artist was Leonardo da Vinci… The guy on the donkey’s just a guy on a donkey.” – Narrator
Number of Times Seen –at least 5 times (thetaer in 1991, video, DVd and 20 Mar 2014)
Brief Synopsis – A cat burglar recently released from prison gets blackmailed into committing one last crime which inevitably gets him involved in an international conspiracy
My Take on it – When ever I watch this movie, I howl with laughter throughout because it is so silly it is funny.
The writing is done superbly and the characters are all very likeable, (even the detestable ones). 🙂
Bruce Willis was born for this role because he can play a character like this so well. We believe that Hawk is a criminal with morals and want him to succeed in whatever he does; whether it be a criminal act or a selfless one.
The supporting cast is also superb; Danny Aiello, Andie MacDowell, Richard Grant, Sandra Bernhard and even James Coburn all are hilarious in their over-the-top performances.
The ability to mix criminal acts, love scenes, international conspiracies and the Vatican into a comedy is pure brilliance!
I repeat what I said before, this movie is silly and stupid, but it’s oh so much fun.
Bottom Line – Stupid but hilarious movie that expertly blends genres to give us a very fun movie. Recommended!
Rating – Globe Worthy
