“C’mon, you big overgrown goldfish, come to Jake!” – Jake
Number of Times Seen – at least 5 times (Theater in ’87, cable and 23 Mar 2014)
Brief Synopsis – A great white Shark decides to take revenge on the Brody family once again, this time while they are in The Bahamas.
My Take on it – Now that I’ve seen all 4 Jaws movies, I can honestly say that they just got worse and worse as the sequel number grew.
This movie first of all is really silly premise-wise and there are so many inconsistencies between this film and information told in the previous ones that if you try to pay attention (like I try to do), you can see all the major errors.
None of the actors from the previous ones agreed to return besides Lorraine Gray (who was the wife in 1 and 2). That in and of itself says a lot about this one.
Michael Caine was supposedly contractually obligated to appear in this movie and when he was asked afterwards about the film, he is quoted as saying “I have never seen it, but by all accounts it is terrible. However, I have seen the house that it built, and it is terrific.”
I wonder when Hollywood will realize that in order to make even more mone with a sequel, all they have to do is make a GOOD sequel and people will see it over and over instead of making a stupid one that people will only see once, but at least they will make money off of it.
A major gripe I have about this is the fact that in order to try and make it more viewer friendly, they re-shot a few scenes AFTER it was released in the theater and brought a character back to life that was seen being eaten by the shark. They then used those scenes on all subsequent releases.
The original cut was better than what they did here which was make a really bad movie even worse.
What a major let-down! 😦
Bottom Line – Worst of all the Jaws movies. too many inconsistencies and hate the new ending. Go back into the water…It’s now safe!
Rating – Razzie Worthy

This film is so bad. But I love that they actually structured a film around a shark following a family to the Bahamas in order to exact revenge. Just so ridiculous!

I have heard that Michael Caine quote before and I absolutely love it. Classic quote even if a not so classic film.

yes, I love that quote. explains a lot about why actors chose terrible scripts sometimes

This was the same plot as Orca, wasn’t it? Terrible film 😦

never saw Orca (1977), so I can’t comment on the similarities, but heard it sucked too.
