“This… Tetrodotoxin. Should be nicely into your system by now. Isolated from the liver of a Caribbean Puffer Fish. So, it paralyzes you… and leaves all the other neurological functions perfectly intact. In other words, you can’t move… but you feel everything. It does absolutely nothing to blunt the pain… and you’re about to experience more of that, than you could ever f***ing imagine.” – Clyde Shelton

Brief Synopsis – A man who thinks the justice system doesn’t work properly decided to enact revenge on the convicted murderers who killed his wife and daughter and also on the District Attorney’s office who gave them lighter sentences by making a deal.
My Take on it – Jenna from See it or Skip It! suggested that I watch this movie because the villain played by Gerard Butler is so great and she was definitely right about that.
I didn’t know much about this movie before she suggested it and as a matter of fact had never even heard of it. I liked the premise, so I decided to give it a try.
This movie’s plot isn’t the best plot ever written, but it is definitely entertaining despite its many flaws. The best part about it is the unexpected twists and turns that come out of nowhere and completely blindside you.
Butler is amazing as the father turned vigilante who wants everyone involved to pay for the miscarriage of justice. You can feel his pain and don’t know whether to root for him or not.
Throughout my viewing of this, my mind kept racing back and forth between different scenarios as to what would happen and none of my guesses were even close to being right which is because this movie is quite innovative and original in its twists.
Butler’s character completely steals the show from anyone else here including Oscar winner Jamie Foxx who is way out of his depth here.
Thanks again to Jenna for the recommendation!
Bottom Line – Great lead character who keeps doing the unexpected. Story itself has numerous flaws, but still a worthwhile movie to watch. Recommended!
Rating – Globe Worthy

I didn’t love this one – I liked it OK but just felt there was NO WAY someone could plan that far ahead…

That was the part I had trouble with, but it was a nice idea regardless
