Number of Times Seen – 1 (27 Mar 2014)
Brief Synopsis – The continuing adventures of the wacky anchorman from San Diego who now must tackle the new idea of a 24 hour all-news cable channel in the early 1980’s.
My Take on it – I am clearly not a fan of stupid comedy and this movie continues in the tradition of the original Anchorman (2004) movie and gets even more over-the-top in some of the scenes.
The were probably two main things that I liked about this movie in general.
The first is the fact that since they are dealing with a “period” piece (if you want to call it that), they were able to take future events and use them to sensationalize the jokes in this one (Ford Bronco chase or the Ladykiller joke featuring OJ, Robert Blake and Phil Spector are prime examples) making the joke even funnier if you know the history.
The second thing I liked what the larger melee scene than they had in the first one which had tons of famous cameos including Harrison Ford, Will Smith, Amy Poehler, Tiny Faye to name a few.
Besides that, this movie wasn’t that much of a pleasure to watch and I completely understand why Will Farrell is usually dead-set against making sequels
Bottom Line – Still not my kind of comedy, but the melee here was even funnier than the one in the original.
Rating – BAFTA Worthy
