“My brain’s been paranized! ” – Jerry
Number of Times Seen – 1 (3 Apr 2014)
Brief Synopsis – Two video store clerks accidentally erased all of the video tapes in the store and decide to film their own versions of these movies.
My Take on it – I thought that I would enjoy this movie based on the fact that it’s a movie about movies.
Boy was I wrong!
This movie was terrible.
I have liked some of Jack Black’s work in the past, but I think this one is in the running for his worst movie ever.
Mos Def should stick to singing and not venture into acting anymore. He was very stale and unconvincing here even as a video store clerk. How hard can it be to act like you work in a video store?
C’mon!
The only recommendation I can give about this movie is to stay far far away.
Bottom Line – Horrendous movie. Not funny in the least and I just wanted to “rewind” back to the beginning and pop that video out of the VCR. (Metaphorically obviously since no one owns VCR’s anymore)
Rating – Razzie Worthy

I still own a VCR. But yeah I agree. I was so excited by the concept for this and the casting of Mos Def and Jack Black. But it was a major bummer.

wow! that’s impressive Tim! I waiting so long until I finally succumbed to getting rid of my vcr and tapes (I had over 500 tapes, some with 3 or 4 movies on each). In 2002, I finally sold or gave away them all. then I amassed a collection of over 200 DVD’s that just last year I finally also gave away just about all of them. Now I just rely on electronic copies 🙂

I only have a small collection of VHS. I occasionally come across something cool in an op shop or at a book fair. I am a big fan of physical media (blu-ray, dvd, books, VHS, CDs, vinyl), so probably will hold onto the VHS player as long as it works.

I still haven’t seen this one, but I have to confess it looks like the sort of flick I’d like a lot more than you. Someday, when I see it, we’ll find out if that suspicion is correct.

I cannot tell you how much I disliked this movie. I turned it off. What a waste. Jack Black can irritate the crap out of me! Great reivew!
