Disconnect (2012)

Disconnect“Everything you do, someone out there can see.” – Mike Dixon

Number of Times Seen – 1 (6 Apr 2014)

Brief Synopsis – Three inter-connected stories involving people going online to find a way to connect to others not knowing the possible dangers lurking on the other end.

My Take on it – I had never heard about this movie until it was recently reviewed by my friend Boaz.

This movie takes an interesting look at how people use the new found online world to make connections to other people that they have difficulty doing in person.

The 3 stories are all pretty interesting and the way they end up connecting to each other is done quite well.

The thing that bothered me about this movie is that it ultimately takes a stance that connecting online is dangerous, harmful and can ultimately lead to chaos.  I personally disagree with that stance because like with every other tool or weapon that we have use of, it all depends on how you use it since some will use things for bad but the majority tend to use it innocently and for good reasons.

Most of the characters are well developed and by the end you care about almost all of them and want things to work out for them.  As with all good movies trying to depict reality, some have a happy ending and some don’t..  i.e life doesn’t always end like in a fairy tale.

This movie is about the introspective journey each of us may take to ultimately make to better ourselves.

Bottom Line – Very good story about connecting with others and the journey we all make to find those connections either online or offline. Recommended!

Rating – Globe Worthy
