Captain America (1990)

Number of Times Seen – 1 (6 Apr 2014)

Brief Synopsis – Steve Rogers volunteers to be America’s first super soldier during WWII and is subsequently put in cryo-stasis for 50 years after diverting a missile headed for Washington.  When he is accidentally awoken, he must help save The President when enemies attempt to assassinate him.

My Take on it – I was inspired to watch this B-movie version since the new Captain America movie just came out.

This movie is so cheesy and bad that it makes the Batman TV series from the sixties seem like an amazingly successful superhero adaptation.

The storyline is really really lame and there is no character development at all.

They didn’t spend much time on Cap’s background at all and “froze” him while on his first mission.

It was nice to see Ned Beatty and Ronny Cox in this movie, but even veteran actors like them couldn’t help this extremely weak script.

I’m very glad Marvel has resurrected the Captain America franchise because if all we had to go on was this turkey of a flick, they would have given up on making superhero movies a long time ago.

Bottom Line – Terrible superhero adaptation. Stick to the recent Marvel stand alone Captain America movies.

Rating – Razzie Worthy
