“A house divided against itself… would be better than this!” – Abraham Lincoln
Number of Times Seen – 1 (10 Apr 2014)
Brief Synopsis – A “normal” Lego construction worker is mistaken for being the one true hero and is recruited to help the Lego Masters stop the scheming plot of President Business
My Take on it – This is a movie I was anticipating to see for the last few months and just didn’t get around to it. I had a free afternoon, so I took two of my sons to see it. (I’m not quite sure who wanted to see it more, me or them…probably me) 🙂
As a kid, I enjoyed playing with Lego , Star Wars action figures and especially Army men. I had a wild imagination and would always find interesting situations to put my “men” in.
I never lost that imagination, but as we all grow up, some parts pf us stay like the the 10 year old we once were and some parts grow out of it due to seeing how reality works.
This movie was made by people who still have that spark inside of them even though they have physically grown up. They were able to take their love of Lego as children and successfully translate them to the screen enabling us all to relive our childhood imagination thru their storytelling.
At the same time, they were able to create live action characters to complement the animated sequences that embody the dual kind of “toy lovers”; the kid who just wants to play with them and the adult who wants to find a way to capture his youthful love of toys and never want it changed. Will Ferrel is great as the father.
Long list of famous voice talent actors here for most of the roles.
The animation here is done exceptionally well and they used Lego props for everything including water which was quite ingenious.
I loved how they used so many characters from multiple Lego universes all together. My favorite character tho was one I use to own; the 80’s spaceman who even had his broken helmet (exactly broken where it always broke when we played with it as kids) Ingenious detail!
I had a lot of fun with this movie as did both of my sons.
Bottom Line – Fun movie. Amazing animation done as only true Lego fans could do it. Highly Recommended!
Rating – Oscar Worthy

Good review. Seems like just about everybody can have a good time with this, which is more of a testament to the beauty of animated-flicks than anything else.

yeah, they both loved it, my wife especially 🙂
our 2 yr old is the only one who hasn’t seen it yet, but taking her to the theater would make one of us miss out too much, so I got to stay home with her instead of going to work 🙂 (today wasn’t a school day here)
