“[to Adam] The last thing you need is meeting strange men in hotel rooms. You already have enough trouble sticking with one woman, don’t you?” – Mother
Number of Times Seen – 1 (27 Apr 2014)
Brief Synopsis – A history professor discovers an actor who looks like him and decided to try and find out if they are related.
My Take on it – I have to admit that I liked the premise of this movie, but just don’t understand what they tried to do with it.
This movie leaves way too much open to interpretation and also throws at the viewer many unexplained images that we don’t know what to make of.
The idea of potentially finding your doppelganger is interesting, but there are just too many similar images shared between the two characters that it’s very easy to get confused as to which character you are watching when.
This is perhaps one of those movies that makes more sense upon multiple viewings but in order to get me interested in seeing this again, they need to get me more interested in the story the first time around, and they just weren’t able to do that here.
Bottom Line – Interesting premise, but I think this movie largely fails. Perhaps it’s better after watching it a few times, but I don’t plan on finding out.
Rating – Razzie Worthy

The trailer for this movie confused me but I had hoped the film itself would be easier to follow. Sadly, I’m not surprised it leaves a lot of ends loose and things unexplained. It’s always tough to leave enough confusion to drive suspense but not leave everything murky by the end.

I almost rented this the other day but it was ten bucks. I know Joseph really liked it but I was reading somewhere else similar thoughts to what you have here. Sounds like it’s not worth ten Simolians….

10 bucks to rent a movie??? OMG, inflation is really a bitch. i use to rent movies for 99 cents when I lived in the states.
definitely not worth 10 smackaroos

Hmmmmm, I liked it a hell of a lot more than you did! I loved the way it was shot. It looked depressing as hell, too. Gyllenhaal was good. But what was up with that conclusion? I will write about this more in depth soon!
