(Quoting Bishop Jeremy Taylor) “Marriage hath in it less of beauty but more of safety, than the single life; it hath more care, but less danger, it is more merry, and more sad; it is fuller of sorrows, and fuller of joys; it lies under more burdens, but it is supported by all the strengths of love and charity, and those burdens are delightful.” – Ben Holmes
Number of Times Seen – 1 (6 May 2014)
Brief Synopsis – When he encounters trouble on his way from NYC to Georgia for his wedding, a man meets an eccentric woman and they decide to travel together by any and every means possible.
My Take on it – I was surprised when I found this movie featuring Ben Affleck and Sandra Bullock since I wondered “How could I miss a rom-com with these two???”
I now know why…
This movie was horrendous!
Usually rom-com are fun to watch and I felt this one was just torture.
This movie was supposedly hyped as being a road movie like Planes, Trains and Automobiles (1987) which baffles me even more since there is truly no way of comparing these two movies that are quite distant from one another when seeking entertainment value in a movie.
Skip it (even if you LOVE either of these actors)
Bottom Line – Terrible Rom-com. Hyped as being somewhat reminiscent of Planes, Trains and Automobiles (1987), but doesn’t come close.
Rating – Razzie Worthy

It is indeed horrendous. there’s no love, no chemistry, and watching those two is so tiring.

Affleck really has done some shockers. Paycheck is still my worst of his.

I actually liked the premise of Paycheck and the way they planned the whole thing. I agree tho that the execution wasn’t so great. This movie was MUCH worse!

I think I watched about all of 5 minutes of this when it was on TV once and had to shut it off. My condolences that you had to endure it all. . .

There was one part I slightly enjoyed in this and then the ending came and I wanted to roll my car over the DVD. And plus, this movie was pretty much not fun to watch…It does pain me to say it about a Sandra Bullock movie though.

Ive seen some other SB movies that I could say that about too. Didn’t particularly care for The Net (1994) or Murder By Numbers. I also totally hated The Heat.

How’s your Genre Grandeur entry coming along? 🙂

I’m one of the few that kind of don’t mind Murder By Numbers but I haven’t seen it since it was released, so I don’t know if I still feel the same way about it. And I don’t hold such strong hatred for The Heat. Although, if I were to rate Sandra Bullock movies, both those wouldn’t be in the top movies either.
As for Genre Grandeur, you should get it very soon. Just want to give the movie a quick watch again before I write up my review 😉
