Winter’s Tale (2014)

winters tale“Don’t know who’s more foolish; The horse who won’t listen to his master or the master who listens to his horse.” – Peter Lake

Number of Times Seen – 1 (12 May 2014)

Brief Synopsis – A modern day fairy tale of a thief who meets a dying woman and then finds out that he possesses the ability to save her life, but the forces of evil are out to stop him.

My Take on it – This is another movie that I hadn’t heard of before stumbling across it and after reading the summary was quite intrigued to see it.

The problem for me was that based on the cast and the summary (and even the screenwriter and Director Akiva Goldsmith), I had very high expectations for this one. and this movie just didn’t meet them.

This movie stars Colin Farrel, Russel Crowe, Jennifer Connelly, Eva Marie Saint, Jessica Brown Findlay, Will Smith and William Hurt and I felt that such a talented cast was just wasted on this story since they weren’t able to raise the level of entertainment in this film.

Unfortunately this fairy tale themed movie just isn’t much better than mediocre.

Bottom Line – Fairly good story, great cast but unfortunately nothing more than mediocre movie.

Rating – BAFTA Worthy
