“I know this sounds weird, but you’re the only one who can save me. How messed up is that?” – Nick Powell
Number of Times Seen – 1 (18 May 2014)
Brief Synopsis – A teenager is stuck in limbo between life and death after he is attacked and must try and find a way to communicate with the world that he is still alive.
My Take on it – I really liked the concept of this movie, but was disappointed in how it was executed.
The director is David Goyer who was very involved with writing the Dark Knight Trilogy with Christopher Nolan.
This movie is based on a Swedish film that itself was based on a novel and if I think about it, I believe that the adaptation to film is what possibly hurt this movie’s premise.
Having a character who is a pseudo-ghost discuss his memories and his life is not an easy thing to adapt to the screen and I believe that is where this movie fails and ultimately presents us with a mediocre thriller instead of one that could have been much better.
Bottom Line – Very interesting premise that just doesn’t deliver the goods as well as expected. Mediocre at best
Rating – BAFTA Worthy
