The Angriest Man in Brooklyn (2014)

angriestmaninbrooklyn“[to Henry] Reconciliation, in ninety minutes? Are you trying to kill yourself?” – Aaron Altman

Number of Times Seen – 1 (28 May 2014)

Brief Synopsis – A lawyer is mistakenly told by his doctor that he only has 90 minutes left to live when he manages to get her angry.

My Take on it – Here is another movie that I came across accidentally and am very pleased that I did.

The movie has a very interesting premise and lesson about life at the same time.

The cast is superb.

Robin Williams takes on the lead role and makes it his own.  This is another prime example as to how amazing an actor he is because it matters not what kind of movie that he is in, he is able to immerse himself in the character and bring it to life before us.  He doesn’t need to be in a comedy to excel.  personally, I think he is always much better in serious roles than in the comedic one, because he is more restrained and is able to make the character more real without all of his comedic hi-jinx getting in the way of us believing that we aren’t watching the Robin Williams we all know and love.

The supporting player are all perfectly cast also; Mila Kunis, James Earl Jones, Peter Dinklage, Melissa Leo, Hamish Linklater, Richard Kind, Jerry Adler, Bob Dishy and Louis CK all worked so well in their respective parts.

The moral of this movie is one used many times before, but this is done in a somewhat unique way that it’s quite enjoyable to watch.

Bottom Line – Very interesting premise. Williams shows again how great an actor he can be no matter the genre.  Great supporting cast. Recommended!

Rating – Globe Worthy

  1. i saw the title and thought this was a remake of a film called ‘the last angry man’ (about a very bitter doctor in Brooklyn). it’s also a very good novel. THIS film sounds very good although i am not a fan of serious robin williams: i find him mawkish and mugging for sympathy. However, I’d watch Mila Kunis eat cereal, so i’ll probably rent this at some point.

    • I was also surprised at how much I enjoyed this. This is actually a remake of an israeli movie called 92 minutes of mr. Baum (dont recall the exact title).
Tnx for stopping by and commenting Niall!
