Enchanted (2007)

enchanted “Thank you for taking care of my bride, peasants. ” – Prince Edward

Number of Times Seen – 1 (28 May 2014)

Brief Synopsis – A fairy tale princess is “banished” to Manhattan her Prince’s evil step-mother.

My Take on it – As my followers already know, I’m quite a biog fan of Disney movies, so I finally got around to watching this one in my continuing quest to eventually see them all.

I loved how this movie did such a great job combining the live action and animated sequences.  The special effects have come a long way since Who Framed Roger Rabbit? (1988)

This movie is filled with great songs by Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz and the tunes are all quite catchy. (3 of the songs were nominated for Oscars that year)

You can tell that the writer and the Director are big fans of Disney also due to the large amount of references to previous Disney movies.  On the one hand, they parody much of fairy tale silliness, but at the same time, you can see that it is all done with so much love for the genre.

Excellent take on the fish out of water story.

Bottom Line – Great melding of animation and live-action. Excellent songs, Love how is both parodies and envies so much of Disney’s fairy tale movies. Recommended!

Rating – Globe Worthy
