National Lampoon’s European Vacation (1985)

european vacation“[Clark is driving around Lambeth Bridge Roundabout in London, England, and is unable to turn to the left] Hey look kids, there’s Big Ben, and there’s Parliament… again.” – Clark Griswald

Number of Times Seen – Numerous times ( Bunch of times as a kid and 1 Jun 2014)

Brief Synopsis – The Griswald’s win an all expense paid trip to Europe and begin to wreck havoc on all the sites they visit.

My Take on it – As a kid, I recall liking this movie a lot, but I think it probably had to do more with the nudity than with the story.

The story here is terrible, but there are funny moments now and again.

My favorite scene is when they visit their German relatives who don’t speak any English, but most of their locations on the trip have some funny scenes in them.

Clark Griswald is definitely a loveable idiot and it always amazes me how stupid he can really be.  The rest of the family also aren’t the brightest bulbs in the house either.

This is a fitting sequel to National Lampoon’s Vacation (1983), so eventhough it isn’t as good as the original it fits well into the series.

Bottom Line – Has some funny moments and it’s amazing how stupid they all can be.  Fits in with the series well tho.

Rating – BAFTA Worthy
