Number of Times Seen – 1 (12 Jun 2014)
Brief Synopsis – A man decided that he must find a Jewish girl to be his wife so she will be able to serve him hand and foot.
My Take on it – I read about the premise of this movie and that it is based inb a hit Broadway show and I was intrigued.
When it comes to comedy, everyone no matter their race or religion should try to understand that sometimes things are said within the scheme of humor and not everything should be seen as being offensive.
Being a Jewish person, I try to always take that into consideration and am willing to watch things that see my people in a derogatorily humorous light.
This movie fits into that category perfectly.
The jokes (like in most movies) were hit or miss and some worked and some failed miserably, but ultimately, it is possible to view this movie as having some pretty humorous lines.
The problem I had here wasn’t the jokes, but rather the total lack of a coherent storyline, characters or something for us to endear and cherish as a viewer to take home as a souvenir.
I’m always amazed how movies like this get big named actors attached so easily. The answer in this category is that fact that none of them are recent A-list stars but rather people who we might recognize from TV and/or movies of the 80’s and 90’s like Jon Lovitz, Rita Wilson, Tom Arnold and Jennifer Love-Hewitt.
Bottom Line – Has some funny lines, but ultimately this movie was lacking in many aspects. Amazing familiar cast.
Rating – BAFTA Worthy
