The Circus (1928)

circus“I’ve run away from the circus.” – Merna

Number of Times Seen – 1 (15 Jun 2014)

Brief Synopsis – Chaplin’s Tramp becomes and overnight success when he accidentally stumbles into a traveling circus

My Take on it – I had never seen this Charlie Chaplin movie in it’s entirety and unfortunately the best and iconic scenes are few and far between.

My favorite two iconic scenes are the chase by the police in the beginning where Chaplin pretends to be a mannequin moved by strings and the lions den.

The story itself is pretty boring  and somewhat pointless, but it was still nice to see the iconic scenes in context.

Bottom Line – Has some very funny scenes and a few iconic Chaplin “moments” but most of the story is kinda boring.

Rating – BAFTA Worthy
