“Know your place. Accept your place. Be a shoe. ” – Mason
Number of Times Seen – 1 (8 Jul 2014)
Brief Synopsis – After the world is plunged into an eternal winter, the few survivors live on a supertrain that transverses the globe.
My Take on it – This movie takes a very fascinating idea of a futuristic society living solely within the confines of a moving supertrain.
As the story progresses, we learn little by little about how things work on the train and the history of those living on it for 17 years irregardless of their social class.
I enjoyed learning about the characters and world they live in and was fully engrossed ontheir world the whole time.
As much as I enjoyed this movie, I constantly felt that there was something slighty missing that could have elevated it to being an excellent film instead of just a very good one.
Bottom Line – Great concept and execution. Interesting analogy of how the class system works in any society. Recommended!
Rating – Globe Worthy

I’m really interested in this one…but I’m pretty sure it’s leaving my local theater after tonight.
It was only here like a week! Sounds like I need to give it a rental, huh? Nice review!

Because of Evans or because it was a great story?

LOL! No, not because of Evans (though he delivered a phenomenal performance), but because of the story, the look of the film, the concept, the characters… it was refreshing!

Your right, it could have been amazing, not sure what was missing, the not knowing what was coming was part of what made it for me.

Brilliant write up, it was a very unusual film, but I had such a blast watching it. I loved the inner themes and that the main female protagonist was Octavia Spencer.
My favourite scene was the bit with Alison Pill haha.

Managed to get a copy of the DVD over here in the UK and it is a great film. Love the action, the social commentary on class and the acting, particularly from Evans and Swinton (who I struggled to recognise at first!). Really have to see what the graphic novel is like….
