“[Laurel is pregnant] I told you to use the fertilizer in the fields, Jack. ” – Doc Evans
Number of Times Seen – 2 (Theater on 27 May 1993 and 17 Jul 2014)
Brief Synopsis – After the Civil War, a man returns home where some suspect that he isn’t truly who he claims to be.
My Take on it – I recall seeing this movie in the theater 21 years ago and not being overly impressed with it.
I figured that maybe the 40 year old in me would see things in it that the 19 year old might not have.
With a cast like Richard Gere, Jodie Foster, Bill Pullman and James Earl Jones it must be good. Right????
WRONG! !!
The premise seems so silly, the acting was horrendous and the script and dialogue was pathetic.
I can’t fathom how even after the chaos of war people would forget how a neighbor or esoecially a loved one looked.
I expected more from them and plan to wait longer than 21 more years to see this again 😦
Bottom Line – I have trouble believing the basic premise even amidst post war chaos. Clearly not Gere or Foster’s best work. Stay away!!
Rating – Razzie Worthy
