“You do too much – college, a job, all this time with me… You’re not Superman, you know” – Aunt May
Number of Times Seen – 5 Times at least (Theater in 2002, DVD, 3 Oct 2008 and 23 Jul 2014)
Brief Synopsis – High school senior Peter Parker gets bitten by a genetically modified spider and starts fighting crime in NYC with his new spider-like powers.
My Take on it – I recall the feelings of sheer joy and anticipation when this movie was announced.
Having watched the cheesy TV movie from the 70’s beforehand and knowing the basics from the comics, this wss a highly touted superhero movie hoping to continue with the success of the first X-men movie in the soon to be exploding genre of superhero movies.
I love how the characters seem so ‘human’ especially Peter Parker. We get to feel for everything that he goes thru physically and mentally. We get to understand his life, his love and especially his ambitions for his future.
I think the casting is great and the actors were chosen because they somewhat resembled the way the characters look in the comics. Tobey Maguire is an excellent choice for the main character of Peter Parker/Spiderman.
Amazing special effects that meld cgi and other known effects to create the perfect illusion of the characters and their powers.
Bottom Line – Great superhero movie that makes us feel for the character’s life, love and ambitions. Maguire is a great choice for the part. Very fun action flick. Highly recommended!
Rating – Oscar Worthy

Great review! My favorite part about this will always be Willen Dafoe as Green Goblin. Perfection. 🙂 In these first two films, the villains rule.

Completely agree! That’s part of what makes them so great. All the other villains are not used as well
