“Everyday I wake up knowing that no matter how many lives I protect, no matter how many people call me a hero, someone even more powerful could change everything. ” – Peter Parker
Number of Times Seen – 1 (24 Jul 2014)
Brief Synopsis – The continuing adventures of high school aged Spiderman who must deal with his love of Gwen Stacy amidst his promise to her father and two new villainous threats to the city.
My Take on it – I gotta say that I liked this movie but was slightly disappointed by the storyline, the villains and the pompous attitude of Andrew Garfield as Spiderman. I felt that he taunted the criminals too much and it seems that hubris will get to him one of these days.
Jamie Foxx wasn’t the best choice for Electra but he did an adequate job. I think that we only got a glimpse of the better villain played by Paul Giamatti as the Rhino who seems like a better rival. Hopefully his role will be expanded in the next installment.
The story was more action packed and slightly better than the first one but both still don’t compare to the stories and character development of the Tobey Maguire trilogy.
This movie also suffers from too much exposition and story lines
Bottom Line – Once again the Spiderman sequel is better than the origin story because you can get right into the action. Villains aren’t so great tho and they tried to add too much exposition that bog down the story a bit. Recommended!
Rating – Globe Worthy

Good review. I liked this movie a whole hell of a lot more than I probably should have. But hey, so be it. I had fun. Whatever!

“. . .the pompous attitude of Andrew Garfield as Spiderman. I felt that he taunted the criminals too much and it seems that hubris will get to him one of these days.” <— This. I think this is what we are slowly building towards. (I hope anyway, there has got to be a bigger dramatic consequence for Peter Parker in 3, I would think.) I think his cockiness will one day have to be answered for. I think Andrew Garfield is a perfect Spider-man, though this film is far from it. I was similarly disappointed in Electro. And DeHaan for once really was pretty terrible

I really liked it. It was much better than the first one. The story was rubbish but i liked the way it was directed and the music was fantastic

Yea, not a movie that needs to be rushed to see, but still enjoyable

I must say I had a lot of fun with this, though there were some serious flaws. I liked DeHaan as Harry, I thought he was very good! Andrew Garfield is the best Spider-Man!

Yep. This one was an improvement over the first, but it still could’ve been better. I think it tries a little too hard to be…comic-y. You know what I mean? Like all that stuff with the Rhino at the beginning. It’s cheesy, and I think it’d be fine for a comic, but it doesn’t translate to film. I actually didn’t love any of the villains in this. I do like DeHaan a lot, but I prefer him as Harry–not so much as Green Goblin. And the ending… 😥 Still, it’s a fun flick. Great job, Rob!
