Draft Day (2014)

Draft-Day-2014“How is it that the ultimate prize in the most macho sport invented is a piece of jewelry? ” – Ali

Number of Times Seen – 1 (30 Jul 2014)

Brief Synopsis – An NFL General Manager must deal with the team’s coach, owner, star quarterback, his love life and his father’s recent death all within mere hours of having to decide what top player to pick in the yearly football Draft.

My Take on it – I’m not much of a football fan but I do understand how things work superficially.
This movie takes a seemingly boring premise and somehow creates an interesting and compelling storyline that never hits a lull during the entire 110 minutes that you watch it.

When I reviewed 3 Days to Kill (2014) a few months ago, I questioned whether Kevin Costner was still capable of being the lead actor on a movie. This movie actually proves that he hasn’t completely lost that ability.

I enjoyed watching him in this movie. It gave me hope that the prolific actor of the 1990s could re-emerge.

Bottom Line – Costner is back to leading man form. Compellingly written movie that is surprisingly captivation for the whole 110 minute runtime evrn for a non- sports fan. Recommended!

Rating – Globe Worthy
