“The future: a dark, desolate world. A world of war, suffering, loss on both sides. Mutants, and the humans who dared to help them, fighting an enemy we cannot defeat. Are we destined down this path, destined to destroy ourselves like so many species before us? Or can we evolve fast enough to change ourselves… change our fate? Is the future truly set?” – Professor X
Number of Times Seen – 1 (18 Aug 2014)
Brief Synopsis – In the near future where a war is being waged between mutants and humans, a plan is devised to send Wolverine back in time to change history to help create a more peaceful future.
My Take on it – I enjoyed this movie so much!!
The combination of a sci-fi superhero movie with time travel elements really appealed to me.
Bryan Singer basically wss given the opportunity to reboot his own franchise and has so far proven that the choice was perfect because he just keeps raising the bar on the quality of his films.
The teaming of both future and past x-men together was done extremely well and I felt that the use of the characters working together as a team in both realities is what strengthens the action sequences. I loved the opening scene because of this.
Peter Dinklage was the perfect casting choice for Trask because as someone born ‘different’ it adds so much to the character’s motivations.
All I can say is if they continue to make X-Men movies like this, we are all in for some great superhero movies in the future.
Bottom Line – Excellent sequel that shows that there is so much life left in the franchise. Great melding of superhero movie with time travel that helps to continue to reboot the series. Definitely one of the best so far of the X-men movies. Hopefully they will continue to show that they can keep reaching the ‘bar’ set beforehand and keep surpassing it. Highly recommended!
Rating – Oscar Worthy

Agreed Rob, this one really reinvigorated the franchise after an efficient reboot via First Class. Very excited for Apocalypse.

One wouldn’t think the seventh entry in a series would be cause for excitement, but X-Men: Days of Future Past is a rousing episode in the franchise. Not the best superhero film of the year, but a solid effort.
